Therapeutic Assessment:
In therapy, I tend to quickly zero in on childhood issues and address how those issues effect current life experiences and future goals.  We don't need to explore our entire childhood, otherwise we would probably be in therapy forever, and waste most of our time in the past - which is a very helpless place to hang out.  Better to address the present attitudes, perceptions, thoughts and emotions that one is experiencing right now, to build a better future.

Part of my philosophy is to help people stop repeating habitual patterns of negative self-talk.  These insidious debilitating repeat patterns of negative thought ultimately lead to feelings of depression.  Stopping the unconscious negative self-talk is the first step.  Figuring new better ways to communicate internally with oneself is the next step.  Developing new healthy patterns empowers people towards the type of self-image thinking that is goal directed and future oriented.  Putting an end to "self-talk depression" means stopping these cycles of incongruent unconscious entrenched negative thought patterns forever.

Counseling is ultimately is about helping people get in touch with their own strengths, personal power and life path.  I take pride in helping people see the vast potential of choices we all have every day. . . right at our finger tips.  When people start believing they have choices and start taking action on those beliefs, then change takes hold to become a new reality.
