M.S. degree in Counseling, California State University, Fullerton, CA January 1996.  Masters Thesis -  The Psycho-physiological Implications of Rhythm in Human Behavior.

 

B.S. degree in Human Services, with an emphasis in Counseling, California State University, Fullerton, CA 1993.   Graduated with honors from the Human Services Department.

Professional Experience

 

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (License MFC36690) in private practice in California from 2000 to 2007.  Specializing in clinical treatment with children, teens, families, couples, and group work. Clinical treatment of anger, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, parenting, and communication problems.  Group work with ADD, social skills, teen issues, anger management, and couples.

 

Contract Therapist for Trinity Family Services in Corona, CA.  Worked with youth ages 12-18 in teen diversion program for probation department.  Clients perpetrators of violent crimes, sexual assaults, and substance abuse and alcohol related problems. Clinical treatment included groups, family and individual treatment of minors.

 

Therapist with Sumerset Educational Services.  MFT Intern - Counseling (SED) seriously emotionally disturbed children and adolescents, providing individual therapy, group therapy, play therapy, substance abuse and chemical dependency education, IEP summaries, and annual reports on IEP progress.  Clinical focus on anger management, substance abuse, problem solving skills, impulse control and increasing coping skills.

 

Dual Diagnosis Counselor at Royale Therapeutic Residential Center.  Conducted group and individual substance abuse prevention psychotherapy groups in lock down psychiatric hospital.  Population symptoms include schizophrenia, personality disorders, and major depression, poly-substance abuse, and chronic alcoholism.  Dual diagnostic skills focus on bio-psycho-social framework educating residents of the harmful interaction that alcohol and illegal street drugs have on psychiatric medications.  Designed music therapy treatment program and substance abuse treatment program in collaboration with Orange County Drug and Alcohol Services.
